Introducing the Plantation Range: Verandah Style Living

The Aussie verandah. It’s become such a popular asset of Australian home design that it even landed itself a place in the Wally Johnson and Bob Brown classic ‘Home Among the Gumtrees’. Especially now with the warmer weather well and truly on the way, there’s no better time to give your verandah a revamp so you can get back outdoors and make the most of the open air once more. Not a worry, we’ve got you covered with some tips and tricks to make the most of verandah style living, as well as the official introduction of another Vast classic: the Plantation Range.

Choose your space

The first step in creating your perfect verandah set-up is choosing your location. If you already have a porch or patio, you’re well on your way. If you’re thinking about starting from scratch with an area of lawn, consider how much time and money you want to invest in the area. Concrete pavers or wooden-decking tiles go a long way to perfecting the outdoor area by creating an even surface, as well as establishing a parameter for the space.

Maybe it’s obvious, but the weather is a huge factor to consider when setting up an outdoor area. A roof or awning is essential if you get a lot of rain, and will provide shade during the day. Shade sails are a cheaper alternative that look great, let through plenty of natural light, and reflect the harsh direct rays from the sun. Don’t forget to position for the sun!

Centrepiece

Once you have the space sorted, it’s time to think furniture. Start by selecting the perfect centrepiece for your outdoor retreat. With tables being the main feature of the space, nothing works better than using wooden furniture to complement the existing natural beauty of your outdoor area. Even if you’re working with an otherwise sterile setting, natural wood furniture immediately draws your attention and adds warmth to the atmosphere.

We’ve got something special to share that is hard to overlook when it comes to centrepiece design: the launch of our Plantation Range.

Plantation Range

Woven by hand, the Plantation Range adds a bit of ‘island living’ vibes to any outdoor area. The sustainably sourced plantation cedar wood is a preferred for the construction of furniture as it dries effortlessly, with less shrinking and warping than comparable materials.

Comfortable seating

We’ve got the perfect chairs to match our Plantation Coffee Table: our Plantation Armchairs. If it’s a different fit your after, the Plantation Dining Chair and Plantation Counter Chair complete the set, bringing the fully relaxed resort-style luxury feel to your verandah.

The weaves of the chairs are split Kubu rattan which is durable, long-lasting and comes from renewable resources. The cushion cover can even be unzipped and removed for easy washing.

That’s it for our tips and tricks to make the most of verandah style living. We hope you’re as excited about the launch of our Plantation Range as we are!
