The Old Door is the product that really converted Vast’s love of salvaged timber into our first mainstream recycling success.
Perhaps one of the main reasons for its popularity is how the combination of new timber (used in the frame and legs) contrasts neatly with the recycled timber that is used in the inset panels on the top.
As the name suggests the feature timber used in these tables is sourced predominantly from salvaged old wooden doors which are approx 40-60 years old
The top is hand assembled from solid recycled hardwood planks; carefully selected and married sympathetically with others to create a design fingerprint that is unique every time.
The table surface then has the hand application of multiple individual layers of hard wearing German lacquer that is interspersed with light sanding between each coat, providing a surface that easily stands up to boiling water, red wine spills, hot plates and more.
These tables incorporate our signature strength guarantee and really are designed to last a century, or in our words “a lifetime of meal times”.
